PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND DISASTER CONTROL PROGRAMS:

Oakland County Emergency Management:

  • Liaison between private companies offering to produce PPE and the County/State emergency operations centers
  • Manage drive-through COVID-19 test sites; supervise vaccine clinic volunteers 
  • Sought alternate locations for warehousing activities, quarantine locations
  • Conduct damage assessments following weather events
  • Monitor severe weather and disseminate timely information
  • Provide logistical support to test and vaccine operations
  • Assist with developing the county Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), required by Michigan Public Act 390 and the EMPG
  • Develop reports such as weekly PPE reports and the Equitable Vaccine Administration
  • Appeal to community for donations by developing special communications that resulted in donations of hundreds of thousands of personal protective equipment (PPE) items

 

County of Macomb, Public Relations Manager – Macomb Community Action & Macomb County Health Dept.

  • Developed and executed all communications.
  • Supported the Health Department in response to disease and other large-scale incidents of food or water contamination, outbreaks, periods without adequate water and sewer services, harmful exposure to chemical, radiological or biological agents, including prevention and mediation.
  • Supported messaging (media and public communications) for the Emergency Preparedness Program, including natural and man-made disasters, acts of bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks and other emergencies that impact the health of the public.
  • Role in Emergency Operations Center during declared emergencies under FEMA Emergency Support Function #8 (ESF8).

Managed processes and people in training exercises and real-world military, emergency management, national security, combat and humanitarian operations that mitigated natural and man-made emergency events. Below are some key highlights of my service in the United States Marine Corps.

  • Participated in border security surveillance and drug interdiction activities on US-Mexico border (Arizona) that contributed to increased national security.
  • Humanitarian aid delivery and security during famine, Somalia, east Africa, Operation “Restore Hope”
